    BATTLEFIELD TOUR (WATERLOO)

    For the first time since 1815, Culturespaces offers visitors a new view on the battle of Waterloo with the "Battlefield Tour". You board a small army truck, you cross the battlefield and you can hear explanations in several languages. This dynamic discovery of about 45 to 50 minutes is a great extra on top of the current visit.

    LION MOUND OF WATERLOO (WATERLOO)

    Memorial of the Battle of Waterloo, the Lion Mound is on the spot where the Prince of Orange was wounded. Discover the entire Battlefield remained intact from the top of the hill and watch the décor of Napoleon's last battle. At the top of the 226 steps leading to the Lion Mound, 40 meters high, a cast iron Lion is installed, symbolizing victory.

    NAPOLEON'S LAST HEADQUARTERS (VIEUX-GENAPPE)

    Napoleon and his officers spent the night of 17 June 1815 at this 1757 farmhouse and made their plans for the battle of Waterloo there. The province of Walloon Brabant runs this Napoleon Museum, the only one in Belgium. In 5 halls, personal souvenirs of the emperor are exhibited including weapons and objects related to the battle.

    PANORAMA OF THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO (BRAINE-L'ALLEUD)

    First unveiled in 1912, the panorama of the Battle of Waterloo, on an immense 110 m. long by 12 m. high circular painting portraying scenes from the battle fought on 18 June 1815. A central platform places the visitor in the very thick of a reconstructed clash between life-size infantrymen and cavalry brought vividly to life by the skilled use of perspective by the artist, Louis Dumoulin, and immensely realistic foregrounds. Quadraphonic sound effects make this unique panorama even more lifelike and impressive.

    WAXWORKS MUSEUM (WATERLOO)

    Located opposite the Visitors Centre, the Waxworks museum features in wax all the principal protagonists of the battle. The models, created in 1949 by artists from the Musée Grévin in Paris, include the Napoleon,Wellington, Blücher, the Prince of Orange, Cambronne... All are extremely lifelike in their colourful uniforms and are displayed against faithfully reconstructed backgrounds. Many original objects and documents are also shown, as well a the results of excavations of the battlefield.
